Fall Wine Festival – October 2nd – 12th

It’s almost time for the Fall Wine Festival!  The 10 day event this year begins on October 2nd, and runs through the 12th of the month.  Presented in part by American Express, the festival is ranked as 1 of the top 100 events in North America, and previous years are a great example why.  Last year alone, the festival attracted over 180 thousand visitors, and earned nearly 5 million dollars in revenue.  This year promises to be no exception.

This year’s festival has 160 separate events scheduled, from wine tasting to grape stomping, not to mention the music, crafts, arts and seminars that will be vying for everyone’s attention.  And the wine!  It is all about the wine, after all.

The kickoff highlight will be the very enjoyable WestJet Wine Tastings.  For those who just want to taste excellent wines, as well as those interested in gaining a little more knowledge about the art, this event will be held on Friday and Saturday evenings, October 3rd and 4th.  With more than 35 wineries in attendance, and over 150 wines to be sampled, a grand time is assured for all ticket holders.  The ticket price includes a souvenir wine glass, all the wine tasting, and bread and cheese you desire, as well as a free taxi ride home afterward, which you are sure to want to take advantage of.

On the 5th, Terasen Gas will present The Masters of Food and Wine at the Laurel Packinghouse, which will feature the finest cuisines of local restaurants along with the finest Okanagan wines.  Tickets to both events are a reasonable $55, and may be purchased through TicketMaster.

For more information, contact the Okanagan Wine Festivals Society for more information at info@TheWineFestivals.com or call (250) 861-6654.  You can also visit the official event website at www.TheWineFestivals.com.
